Phew! Holidays, 50% complete.

After a week of eating, opening gifts, eating, eating, and more eating with my family, I'm glad to be home. I did two longs walks with my dad while I was home, but otherwise it was the heavenly scent of chocolate and tamales that hung around my parents' house. begging me to stuff my face (which I did).

Pros:
  • the tamales were delicious and authentic
  • quality time with family
  • visits with my friends and their adorable babies
  • a Wii Fit! C is the best
Cons:
  • willpower/good eating choices = epic fail
We celebrate with C, M, and their parents on New Year's so I've got one more holiday celebration to go. Luckily M is off work all week too so she and I are planning to be active together. I also have a whole list of to-dos like cleaning out my closet and making doctors' appointments. And books to read! It's not Tahiti, but it's what I wanted to do with my vacation. :P

Tomorrow I take a bike ride with M and play with my Wii Fit some more. As of tonight, my Fit Age is 37 and I am officially (though only just barely) obese. So I have room for improvement!

Toasty!

I am having the most wonderful Sunday. I woke up late and lazed around for a while, kicked my hubby out of bed and then headed out to get cold and wet. Well, that wasn't the purpose, but it was the end result. Still, it was fun. First brunch, then a long (but dry) walk up to the Ferry Building, where we poked around Recchiutti chocolates, the Cowgirl Creamery, Acme Bread Co., Scharffen Berger, Joseph Schmidt chocolates, and Golden Gate Meat Co. We picked up cheese for lunch and burgers for dinner, and I met Joseph Schmidt, who kissed my hand and signed the box of truffles I bought for my mom. I made C (the hubby) try the Mexican truffle and the sea salt caramel, which he suprisingly loved even though he generally wrinkles his nose at dark chocolate.

That's when things got wet. I really wanted to buy chocolate for stocking stuffers from Fog City News, which is several blocks up Market. By then it was full-on raining, but we had a big umbrella so we soldiered on in search of organic chocolate goodness. Sadly, I had neglected to check the hours, and Fog City is closed on Sundays! It was a long, wet walk back to the car, but we made it.

Now I'm sitting in front of a roaring fire on the hearth, my belly full of double cream cheese and crackers, watching the Food Network and bragging. We wrapped the presents we bought, and I'm thinking once the fire dies down I'll hit the mall to look for more stocking stuffers. Hopefully by then it will be less crowded and rainy.

Hello Interwebs

So who am I and why am I typing?

I'll answer the latter first: Why not? Everyone else has a blog, right? And I need someplace to ramble. I don't know if I care whether anyone reads. I mean, I would just keep a diary if I wanted it secret, so I guess it would be nice if someone did. But I'm not going to stress over that right now.

I am...
  • a lawyer
  • a beginner triathlete
  • a wine drinker
  • a very amateur anusara yogi
  • an amateur baker/foodie
  • a sometimes dieter (when the foodie gets the better of the triathlete/yogi part of me)
  • a recovering World of Warcraft addict
  • a list obsessed person
I have a husband, C, whom I've known forever and married about two years ago. He just started working at a new patisserie, which is awesome. We have two cats, Mephis and Topheles, who like to get in trouble. My sister-in-law M will feature prominently here since she got me into this triathlon trouble, and I talk about my crazy sisters and my friends once in a while, but I'll introduce them as they appear.

I'll probably talk about all of this and more on this blog. Mostly my occasional adventures on weekends, since I work a lot. Come back soon and I'll tell you all about it!
